Protecting Your Spiritual Energy During the Holiday Season: A Healer's Guide

The holiday season arrives with sparkling lights and high expectations, but beneath the festive surface, it’s also a time of intense energetic activity. While it can bring joy and connection, it’s also when many of us feel unexpectedly drained, often without understanding why.

I've noticed how people's energy can be unconsciously "stolen" through what I call hooks and drains those subtle dynamics that leave you feeling exhausted after what should have been a joyful family gathering.

  • Perhaps you're being hooked into other people's expectations, like feeling obligated to mediate family conflicts or meet every request for your time and attention.

  • Or maybe it's the places and situations that drain you, such as chaotic environments, overstimulating gatherings, or even certain individuals whose energy feels heavy or demanding.

Most importantly, for those of us who work in any healing capacity, the need for energetic protection becomes even more crucial during this time.

Understanding Your Energetic Sovereignty

You may find yourself surrounded by more people than usual, navigating different environments, stepping away from your routine, and distanced from your daily self-care rituals.

This heightened state can act as a mirror, reflecting back your shadow parts and triggering old patterns.

But here's what I want you to remember:

There is no "right" way to spend your time this holiday season. You are a whole, empowered individual with the ability to protect your energy and stay grounded, even amidst others' energetic fields.

This isn't about building walls – it's about establishing sacred boundaries that foster genuine connection while safeguarding your energetic wellbeing.

In this guide, we'll explore practical ways to protect your energy before, during, and after holiday interactions.

I'll share techniques that have helped both me and my clients maintain energetic balance during this potent time of year.

6 Ways to Protect Your Energy During the Holidays

1. Daily Grounding

Grounding yourself during the holiday season is essential – think of it as an energetic anchor that keeps you steady when seasonal stresses try to sweep you away. Establishing a daily grounding practice can transform how you experience this emotionally charged time of year.

Begin your day with a consistent morning ritual. For example:

  • Call on Archangels Faith and Michael for protection with a prayer like this:

“Dear Archangels Michael and Faith, please protect me from lower-level vibrations, such as fear, worry, resignation, and anger, as well as energy hooks and drains. With your powerful swords of light, create a ring of holy fire around my energy field to protect me with pure love and white light, and keep out anything less than love by turning it to ash.”

Incorporate simple yet powerful grounding techniques:

  • Take a walk in nature and imagine roots growing from your feet into the ground

  • Hold a grounding crystal like black tourmaline to absorb and neutralize negative energy.

  • Practice mindful breathing: take slow, deep breaths, focusing on the sensation of the air entering and leaving your body.

These small yet meaningful acts help create a powerful energetic shield, keeping you centered and protected throughout the day.

2. Setting Clear Intentions & Creating Your Shield

Before stepping into any holiday gathering, take a moment to set powerful intentions for your energetic wellbeing.

Write down statements that resonate with your soul's truth:

  • "I remain centered in my peace regardless of external energy"

  • "I honor my boundaries with love and compassion"

  • "I choose which energy to absorb and which to release"

Keep these written intentions by your bedside. Reading them before sleep helps program your subconscious mind and strengthens your energetic boundaries while you rest.

3. Carry an Energetic Shield

Create your energetic shield by carrying nature's protectors with you.

The rose, being one of the highest vibrational flowers on Earth, acts as a natural beacon for angelic protection. Lower energies simply cannot penetrate its light.

Enhance this shield by selecting crystals that speak to you:

  • Black Tourmaline for grounding and protection

  • Amethyst for spiritual connection and peace

  • Selenite for clearing and charging your energy field

  • Citrine for maintaining positive energy and personal power

Carry these allies in your pocket or wear them as jewelry, letting them work in harmony with your own energy field.

Remember, these tools aren't just physical objects – they're extensions of your intention to stay energetically sovereign.

4. Prioritize Your Self-Care

Your daily routine becomes your anchor during holiday chaos.

Stay connected to your center by:

  • Starting each day with gentle movement or stretching

  • Taking 5 minutes for journaling your feelings and needs

  • Practicing mindful eating at holiday gatherings

  • Listening to your body's signals for rest or recharge

  • Setting aside quiet time for meditation or prayer

The secret lies in striving to be mindful throughout the day. It’s about pausing to stay present and aware of your needs as they arise.

Remember: mindfulness isn’t about perfection – it’s about presence, and celebrating your progress.

Take moments to check in with yourself, asking, "What do I need in this moment?" and “Good job for checking in to what I need!”

Whether it’s a deep breath, a few minutes alone, or simply grounding yourself, honoring these needs will help you stay balanced and centered.

5. Limit Overstimulation

The holidays often bring a whirlwind of sounds, lights, and energy, which can easily become overwhelming

Protect your peace and maintain your balance by:

  • Finding quiet corners: Step away for brief meditation or breathing breaks to reset your energy. Even a few moments of stillness can help you feel grounded.

  • Using noise-canceling headphones: Whether it’s soothing music or silence, these can be a lifesaver in loud or chaotic environments.

  • Excusing yourself from draining conversations: If a discussion becomes too heavy or uncomfortable, politely step away to protect your energy.

  • Setting time limits for social gatherings: Plan your exit strategy in advance and stick to it, ensuring you have time to recharge.

  • Honoring your needs without guilt: It’s okay to decline invitations or take a break to prioritize your mental and emotional wellbeing. Remember, caring for yourself allows you to show up more fully when it matters.

6. Cleanse Your Energy Regularly

The holidays can leave your energy field feeling cluttered, making it essential to cleanse and reset at the end of each day.

Incorporating intentional clearing practices not only releases what you’ve absorbed but also helps restore your natural vibration.

Here are some effective ways to clear your energy:

  • Smudge your space: Use sacred palo santo, or your favorite cleansing incense to clear stagnant energy. Focus on areas where you’ve spent the most time.

  • Take a salt bath: Add Epsom or Himalayan salt to your bathwater, along with intention-setting crystals like amethyst or clear quartz, to cleanse and rejuvenate your energy field.

  • Practice self-Reiki: If you've been placed with Reiki; Try my 10 minute Reiki Routine (See my YouTube video - linked above).

  • Speak empowering affirmations: Try affirmations like, "I release all energies that are not mine," or "I am restored and renewed." These words can shift your vibration and help you feel centered.

  • Express gratitude: Reflect on moments of joy, connection, or personal growth from the day. Gratitude helps raise your energetic frequency and invites more positivity.

These simple yet powerful practices can help you release what no longer serves you and reconnect with your authentic energy.
